British conductor Joséphine Korda continues to establish herself as an intense yet graceful musical pioneer in orchestral conducting as well as conducting for opera and ballet:

“For me, conducting is an odyssey on which I want to take musicians and audiences alike.  Anchored on a bed of deep musical analysis, I take inspiration from my diverse aesthetic experiences to wend a way through all the senses.  I delve into artistic and natural wonders to find the source of music and use this rich multi-sensory approach in my conducting: I taste the saltwater, smell the pine needles, sense the heat of the sun, the cold of the wind, the fear of the night.  And I share this kaleidoscope of perspectives with the musicians to create one synthetic performance, sculpting the sound with my gesture, my baton, myself.”
